Suzanne is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Missouri.
She received a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Kansas State University.
Suzanne completed her graduate internship at Tulsa Family and Children’s Services in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For five years, she worked for a nonprofit counseling center in Kansas City, Missouri. Suzanne has been in private practice since 2005.
She is a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
AREAS OF INTEREST:
Suzanne works with individuals, couples, and families dealing with topics such as marriage and family dynamics, premarital counseling, grief and loss, abuse, depression, and anxiety. She enjoys working with children, teenagers, and adults. Her practice includes an emphasis on postpartum depression/anxiety as well as marital conflict.
Using a collaborative approach within a family systems framework, Suzanne utilizes her clients’ strengths to help them achieve their goals. Suzanne helps clients to become more aware of their own reactivity, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this knowledge, they are encouraged to make desired changes to create healthier, more satisfying relationships with self and others.
Suzanne uses different approaches to engage children, teenagers, and families, including directive and nondirective play therapy, sandtray work, and various activities to express one’s thoughts and feelings. Suzanne views therapy as hard work, but something that can also be enjoyable.
